Water Plant Mechanic
Description : This is skilled maintenance, repair, and equipment modification/fabrication position in the Utility Division of Public Works Department. Work involves performance of a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair, modification, and construction of equipment at the City water treatment plant, reservoirs, and pumping facilities.
Work includes the operation of a variety of hand and power tools, motorized equipment, control panels, pumps, and treatment tanks. At times, work of this nature requires the expenditure of heavy physical labor. Work also involves daily assignment of work leading assigned crew worker or workers of the Utility Division to accomplish certain tasks. The incumbent performs and serves as equipment operator and lead worker on projects to ensure that work is completed safely, effectively, and efficiently.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Utility Operations Superintendent and is reviewed as to completeness and timeliness of accomplished tasks. Requirements include possession of a current Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License, a Class D Water License, and certification or training as a skilled heavy equipment operator.
