Communications/Dispatch

The department maintains a 24 hour 7 days a week communications center.  Our personnel receive specialized training in State and Federal databases, 911 dispatching and they also are cross trained and certified as jailers.

Communications primarily is responsible for operation of police and fire radio systems, operation of the 911 phone system, data entry into the department records system, providing information to field officers and dispatching Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical services.  Communications officers are also responsible for operating the databases which connect law enforcement agencies throughout the country and state. These databases are responsible for bringing fugitives to justice, returning stolen property to victims, locating missing adults and children, all while keeping officers and citizens safe. The communications division also assists with reception of visitors arriving at the police station.
