Rules to Follow when Placing Your Polycart at the Curb for Trash Pickup
- All household trash must be in a polycart. Trash, including grass clippings, must be bagged and placed inside the polycart for pickup. Loose grass and trash may get stuck inside the cart. It may also fall out of the cart while being emptied and blow all over the street. Bagged trash placed outside the cart will not be picked up; it must be inside the polycart. Residents may request a second or third polycart for an additional fee by submitting a request here.
- The side-loader trucks empty one side of the street at a time. We will empty one side of the street then return to empty the carts on the opposite side of the street.
- Please make sure polycarts are not blocked by parked vehicles or overhead obstructions such as tree limbs, electric or cable wires, etc. Please make sure landscape and lawn mowing companies do not block or partially block your carts with vehicles, trailers, and equipment. If your polycart is blocked by a vehicle or piece of equipment, it cannot be picked up.
- Place the polycart on the street with the wheels against the curb. If there is no curb, place the cart on the shoulder off of the roadway.
- Do not place polycarts within 3 feet of any obstruction, such as mail boxes. Multiple carts should be placed at least 2 feet apart.
- Do not overfill your polycarts or place items on top of them. All items must fit inside the cart with the lid closed.
- Please break down cardboard and place loosely in the cart.
- Polycarts must be placed at the curb before 6:00am on your pickup day. Sanitation days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Sanitation may alter or delay routes as needed, and there is no set time your trash will be collected on your designated pickup day. If your cart has not been emptied by late evening, please contact Public Works at 405-789-1193.
- If your designated service day falls on a holiday, place your cart out on the Wednesday of that week. Thanksgiving and Christmas follow a different schedule; you can find a list of holidays and their corresponding trash make-up days here.
- Trash is typically picked up by 6pm. Please remove your polycart from the street by the end of the day.
The following items should NOT be placed in the polycart: automotive parts, petroleum products, hazardous chemicals, or building materials (tile, bricks, boards, concrete, dirt, rocks, etc.)
For large items, please contact Public Works at 405-789-1193 to schedule a bulk trash pickup for an additional fee.
